Germaine Richier (19021959) is an important French sculptor. In 1956, she was the first woman to exhibit at the Musée d'Art Moderne [Museum of Modern Art] and her works are shown in the most prestigious museums around the world (Centre Pompidou, MoMA, Tate Gallery); despite this, no catalogue raisonné had yet been compiled.
The release of this work therefore is a major event, because Germaine Richier is an artist who plays a leading role in modern sculpture.
