He has translated novels,screenplays, and journalism for major trade publishers and university presses and has written for The Washington Post,The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, The Sunday Times of London Insight team, New YorkMagazine, Columbia Journalism Review, Lapham's Quarterly, The Paris Review, The Village Voice, and bothAdvertising Age and Adweek. He has translated two books by Primo Levi in the Norton Complete Works of Primo Levi,five Strega Prizewinning books, and television series and films by Paolo Sorrentino, Luca Guadagnino, and PeppeFiore. He is the recipient of two NEA translation fellowships (2007 and 2019). His translation of Gianni Rodari'sTelephone Tales received the American Library Associations Batchelder Award. He lives in Washington, D.C.
