Predominantly, the subject matter concerns government regulations and actions taken in the most recent Congress as they apply to all aspects of aquatic life. Aquaculture-the farming of fish, shellfish, and other aquatic animals and plants in a controlled environment-is expanding rapidly. The 111th Congress may consider legislation to modify federal activities related to aquaculture, including possible standards to guide aquaculture development in offshore federal waters.
