Ethel Mary Wilmot-Buxton (1870-1923) was an author, translator and school teacher, who wrote several books of mythology. In among her bibliography, as well as works on history or religion, were retellings of the Norse sagas and Celtic tales such as the Mabinogion. She was an alumna of Hughes Hall, Cambridge, where she founded the Marsh Marigold Tramp Club and led walking trips around England and the Continent. She taught at Brighton High School for Girls and was a fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
