Book Synopsis

The book created by Adela Turin 40 years ago to promote equality between boys and girls arrives for the first time in the United States. A must.

Adela Turin is an art historian and lives in Paris. She founded a publishing house for children books in Milan in 1974. That was the origin of an editorial experience at that time where she tackled girls' rights. Her work is very well known in France, Italy, and Spain, and she has been translated into different languages.

Nella Bosnia participated with Adela Turin in founding the publishing house, and illustrated her first picture books.

Trade Review
"Turin’s story could easily start conversations about social norms, gender equality, and fairness." -- Publishers Weekly "A must." -- Kidsreads.com "A powerful little story for school-age kids that lends itself to some pretty big ideas....An interesting and still-timely look at gender, society, and the expectations parents put on their own children. A good addition to bookshelves." -- Mom Read It "CANDY PINK by Adela Turin and illustrated by Nella Bosnia is unlike any children's book that I've read in recent memory... maybe ever…..a terrific way to introduce gender issues to you child….It explores feelings of being different and even isolated as well as how hard it is sometimes to just be yourself. I think the many positive messages in this picture book about acceptance, tolerance, and individuality are important to share with children in today's society. Highly recommended!" -- Booking Mama
