Featured are: St Illtyd''s church and the conservation area of Newcastle Hill, North Street (Tondu Road), ''The Embassy'' and Brewery Lane, The ''New Bridge'' and Sunnyside, Bridgend County School for Boys and Heol Gam. With 200 images it also shows the Oldcastle Junior School and ''The Tech'', St Mary''s Catholic church and school, around the area of Nolton church, Brackla Street, The Rhiw, Queen Street and the Glamorgan Gazette in Bridgend. It also provides a short history of Glamorgan Police Headquarters, Police Museum, Royal Ordnance Factory, Island Farm Prisoner-of-War Camp and German Officers at Special Camp 11. The reader will encounter street scenes from the last 100 years, with pubs, cinemas, and shops that are long gone. The book also gives a glimpse of the streets of the city and the people who lived there, at work and leisure. The author has constructed a book that will provide older residents of the area with a nostalgic look at the recent past and bring to newcomers and the young an opportunity to look at how things used to be.
