Book Synopsis

When Keith, a former guitarist, feels pressured into reforming his old band for a '70s rock tribute competition in memory of his best friend and lead vocalist, Daniel, his mental health unravels. Keith blames himself for his band's demise and to make amends, he must persuade Finn, a talented but troubled eighteen-year-old, to fill Daniel's shoes.

Finn, having wowed Keith on karaoke, lost his mam when he was nine years old. His best friend is on life support; he has a poor relationship with his dad; he loses his job, and he's about to lose his home. If he's to turn his life around, Finn must impersonate Daniel's hero, Marc Bolan, and become part of a T.Rex tribute band.

Can Keith overcome his grief by remembering who he once was? Can Finn overcome his by remembering who he always wanted to be? Do they have what it takes to trust each other and grab their golden opportunity with both hands?

Being Bolanis a poignant and uplifting story that explores what it means to be human and delves into the complexities of mental health amongst men.
