Book Synopsis

Justin O. Huffman invites us to ponder the glorious, life–changing truths given to us in God’s Word.

We are starving for want of wonder. In what we perceive to be the desert wasteland of daily life and regular responsibilities, our souls hunger for more. We instinctively feel there must be more to life than merely waiting for the next big movie to be released, or the next sport season to come back around, or the next holiday to arrive on the calendar. We long to be truly in awe.

All the while, true wonders abound. They abound in the natural world, and they super–abound in the supernatural realm. What our souls are starving for is not merely to be awed, but to discover something or someone that is truly, permanently, and altogether awesome.

God tells us, over and over again, to focus our starving souls on the superb reality of who He is, what He is doing, and what He promises to do for all who trust in Him. God invites us to pause within the pages of Scripture, to consider what we are reading, and thereby to feed on His majesty. And God’s invitation to glory in Him is nowhere more explicit than in the repeated command to ‘Behold.’

Justin O. Huffman invites us to meditate on ten of the occasions the command ‘Behold’ is used in the New Testament, and to feast on the wonderful truth we find there.

Trade Review

Justin Huffman helps us challenge what we truly love, what we spend our time beholding. In a world full of distractions and digital delights, this is a timely call to gaze at the face of Jesus and bask in His glory. Behold provides a corrective lens for us to see that there is more to life and invites us to satisfy our deep soul–hunger by feasting on Jesus, the Son of God. But we’re not left there to gorge on glory while the world starves. We must respond in wonder and worship, and by taking the good news to a fatally sick world so they can behold Jesus too.

-- Joel Morris (Executive Director, Union, Bridgend, Wales)

Justin Huffman takes the familiar truths of Christ’s gospel and helps us to view them again with wonder—a sense of glory that both fascinates us and fills us with awe. Here is a book that focuses attention on Jesus and says, ‘Behold your God!’

-- Joel R. Beeke (Chancellor, Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, Michigan)

… points to the all glorious and the awesome – to the wondrous person and work of Jesus Christ. Dear reader, as you read ‘Behold’ may your heart be wonderstruck at the glories of who Christ is and what He has done.

-- Christina Fox (Counselor, retreat speaker and author)

… reorients our minds and hearts away from the small pleasures to the grand wonders of living in a world ruled by God’s sovereign hand. Refresh yourself in the streams of this thoroughly biblical worldview, that when adopted, will change everything.

-- Dustin W. Benge (Managing Director, Unashamed Truth)

Sometimes we yawn at God’s truths, not because his truths are dull but because our hearts are. In this book, Justin Huffman helps us recapture the beauty and the glory of God and His gospel. If you, like me, are in danger of taking God’s truth for granted, ‘Behold’ will help to reawaken your wonder and worship.
