Book Synopsis
The annals of the historical association for the Lower Rhine are one of the oldest regional historical journals of the Rhineland. The contributions cover the entire Rhenish history since the end of antiquity, with a focus on the history of the old Rhenish territories in the Middle Ages and early modern times. The current volume deals, among other things, with the early days of the Zyfflich Abbey as reflected in its founding document as well as the Jülich knighthood in the 15th century or the Germantown protest against colonial slavery (1688). Other contributions deal with the members of the Bonn Union (18471855) or the history of the Jewish elementary school in Münstereifel; the youth congregation in Mönchengladbach-Eicken as a model for Catholic sport (not only) in the Rhineland or the State Security in Mönchengladbach as well as with Konrad Heresbach''s doctoral certificate from 1522. A comprehensive review section contains discussions of the most important new publications on Rhenish history.
