Book SynopsisThis monograph includes eight chapters that each discuss recent advancements in the field of sociology research. Chapter One explores immigrant youth's contributions to U.S. culture and identifies potential influences on modern day and future generations. Chapter Two provides a review of the literature concerning the problem of sexual harassment in the hospitality industry. Chapter Three reflects upon the incomplete decolonisation and democratisation process in Latin America and Brazil. Chapter Four presents a synthesis of the evidence from literature on the implications of housing on social distancing effectiveness among people living in substandard housing units in Ghana. Chapter Five describes the Siberian Tatars, a unique indigenous people of Western Siberia. Chapter Six shows how the institutional norms and practices in orthopaedics and surgery are gendered and create structures of inequalities for women doctors. Chapter Seven explores how empowerment and emancipation among high-risk marginalized populations can transpire in a practical context by examining a community-based peer outreach project among commercial sex workers in India called the Sonagachi Project.
