Patients' illness experiences are described with the word \u003ci\u003epain\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eanxiety\u003c\/i\u003e and sometimes \u003ci\u003edespair\u003c\/i\u003e; their social situations are often marked by \u003ci\u003evulnerability\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eexposedness\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003einsecurity\u003c\/i\u003e which apply to both genders, but particulary to women; their help-seeking behaviour is characterised by \u003ci\u003epragmatism\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003ecomplementarity\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eplurality\u003c\/i\u003e; their conceptions about illnesses and aetiologies involve qualities of \u003ci\u003euncertainty\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eflexibility\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003emultidimensionality\u003c\/i\u003e; and, finally, patients' treatment experiences can be depicted in three words: some experienced \u003ci\u003eease\u003c\/i\u003e, others complete \u003ci\u003ehealing\u003c\/i\u003e, while a significant group of the multi-episodical patients experienced \u003ci\u003enon-deliverance\u003c\/i\u003e.
