It  has been voted one of the NT2000 One Hundred Plays of the Century. His  next plays were \u003ci\u003eMessiah \u003c\/i\u003e(Hampstead and Aldwych Theatres, 1983), \u003ci\u003eWhen She Danced\u003c\/i\u003e (King's Head, 1988; Gielgud, 1991), \u003ci\u003eA Madhouse in Goa\u003c\/i\u003e (Lyric Hammersmith and Apollo, 1989), \u003ci\u003eSome Sunny Day\u003c\/i\u003e (Hampstead, 1996) and \u003ci\u003eRose \u003c\/i\u003e(National Theatre, 1999). \u003ci\u003eRose \u003c\/i\u003ereceived  an Olivier nomination for Best Play and transferred to Broadway the  following season. Sherman has written an adaptation of E. M. Forster's \u003ci\u003eA Passage to India\u003c\/i\u003e for Shared Experience (Riverside Studios, 2002; Lyric Hammersmith, 2004) and a new version of a Luigi Pirandello play, \u003ci\u003eAbsolutely! (Perhaps) \u003c\/i\u003e(Wyndhams, 2003) He has also written the book for the musical \u003ci\u003eThe Boy From Oz\u003c\/i\u003e which opened on Broadway in 2003.
